Mars, Why Are We There?

When we first started the exploration of Mars, I was fascinated by the pictures of the statue of a Man on Mars half buried in the soil. NASA was at pains to explain that the picture was an illusion. There was no Man statue ruins on Mars. So were various Internet pictures of the vast canyon that crosses Mars, ones in which it was rumored were ruins of a past civilization built into the cliffs.

I was also fascinated with the number of failed missions to Mars. Rumor had it that an old space station was sending out missiles to destroy any spaceships attempting to get near the planet. Of course, we now have better engineering and those rumors must be false also, right? Or was the station finally out of ammo? Or was it disabled somehow?

All of this begs the question: Why are we spending billions of dollars to go to a dead planet? If there is life on the current Mars, it is most likely microscopic given the thin atmosphere. Nothing else is likely to have survived. It is possible that life in the soil might have survived. It is also possible we could be looking at giant sand worms that only come near the surface to reproduce. All the pictures I have seen of the planet, show a desolate landscape completely devoid of any plant life. Animal life generally needs plant life to survive. Which would explain the enormous amount of Carbon Dioxide in what remains of the Martian atmosphere. It is closer to the Moon's trace atmosphere than a planet's atmosphere. It is almost a virtual vacuum. There was enough to use balloons to cushion the landing however.

In ancient Sumerian mythology, there is reference to a god that had rebelled against the regime. I believe his name was Marduke. According to the story, this Marduke warred against the other gods and used atomic weapons. They don't say atomic. They do describe soldiers with their hair, teeth, and other symptoms that have a haunting resemblance to radiation poisoning. To clouds of death ranging over the Arabian dessert. I think there is still evidence in the middle east of a possible advanced technology Atomic War in prehistory of our species. Just cannot prove it.

The story goes that this “god” was deposed. He was exiled. From the description, he was supposedly exiled to Mars. The stories go on to describe using Martian seas as a form of barrier, to protect spaceships against the rocky missiles between Jupiter and the Earth. Now that I can confirm. We are currently building spaceship skins capable of handling small rocks in space that would normally destroy a spaceship. So this myth would explain a lot. Like the missing waters of Mars.

In the Sumerian story, Marduke lived there for about six months and then died of mysterious causes. Of course, no one in established scientific circles will touch that one with a ten foot pole. I don't blame them at all. If it is true, then the government would suppress and ridicule anyone that published it.

If there is something substantial up there, it would explain the enormous budget for exploring Mars. Recovering technology from such a civilization might be a strong motive for being there.

If it is true, then we need to explore with extreme caution. The viral nature of microscopic life could bring a Martian plague back with them to this planet. This “god Marduke” might have died from such a disease even with their technology being advanced it could happen. We might have no immunity built up to handle such a disease. I remember childhood illnesses that we all get growing up. Those same illnesses were fatal in many cases to native Americans. A Martian life form similar to our own might carry such a disease. In other words, there is a basis to think the statue might have been real.

The other motive comes from an earlier article on Venus. I mentioned that a lot of our Oil supplies might have originated from near collisions with this planet. Well, both the Moon and Mars, possibly played pinball tag with Venus at some remote point in our history. If that was the case, then a large number of craters should be present on Mars. Venus would have dragged a lot of asteroids out of orbit in its wake. Possibly the underground seas, located with sonar under the Martian surface, might consist of valid oil supplies. The planet has a low gravity compared with Earth. Mining those fuel supplies could be a basis for a colony. It could fuel our ships to explore the rest of the solar system.

Dr. Mike Brown in his blog, has stated that there are possibly as many as six earth-sized bodies in the outer Solar System. We don't know. Most of the recent discoveries have been Pluto sized bodies. They are also in very strange orbits. Long elliptical orbits that are way off the angle of orbit of the rest of major bodies in the Solar System. The current popular theory is they were dragged there by a body that could have been as small as the Earth or as large as Jupiter. The reason we have not discovered such a body no one knows. Space is enormous.

The other popular theory is we are dealing with a remote brown dwarf star with planets of its own, possibly as far out as half a light year. Which would mean an orbit that could be 3600 years long. If it is on the far side of its orbit, we would have a great deal of difficulty detecting something giving off that small amount of reflected light from the Sun. Any light it did have, would be in the far Infrared range and invisible to normal telescopes. Brown is the wrong color. If it is there, it would be red in color.

Mars is also red in color.

There is considerable statistical evidence to back this theory. Many of the neighboring stars have brown dwarf companions. I believe Alpha Centuri, 4.5 light years away, might be such a triple star system.

The mythical gods of our history might have been real. Especially if life on this planet was related to life on the other planets in our Solar System. Not that I see any evidence at all of life on other planets in the Solar System. Physically, according to legends, they were approximately 9 feet tall. They came from a planet with a gravity heavier than the Earth. They had an enormous longevity. They were very strong. They were capable of reproduction with our species. They had technology capable of space flight. They drove air ships around the planet. India has a very good description of these “people” in ancient documents. I think Japan has a similar history. Japanese people actually believe they are the descendants of a mix with these people. This mix makes them superior to everyone else.

I personally believe they were taken as gods by primitive man. That they were false gods is really spelled out clearly in the Old Testament. To my way of thinking, there is only one God. The creator of the entire universe. We worship him through his son, Jesus Christ. But that is a religious view and opinion on my part.

Someone in our government thinks spending billions on space research and specifically on Mars is worthwhile. Maybe it is time that they owned up to what is really making them motivated to explore Mars to the tune of billions of dollars.
