Something strange is happening in physics. In recent years, something called quantum physics has become respectable. I have no idea what quantum physics is really all about. I do know some of the ideas sound an awful lot like a religion instead of a science.
For one thing, science has taken the leap to say that we have eleven separate space dimensions instead of the standard three. They have determined this on the atomic level (really small) by observation through some really sophisticated equipment.
The problem is that the general laws that we know do not seem to apply at the atomic level. They also do not apply at the giant levels of some objects in the universe. The answer apparently is to come up with a theory that explains all the changes in laws as you get really small or really big. The theory the science crowd came up with was something akin to magic. On the small level, in order for things to work the way they do we would have to have 11 dimensions for an object to move. Obviously on our level you have 3 dimensions. On the small level time does some strange things also. Like it doesn't always move in the same direction. At least that is how I think they described it. Sounds like time flows in more than one direction or even 3 different directions at the same time.
An alternate explanation is we are looking at things on a different operating level. Sort of like computers. Most computers have a normal level which we do our things on. Then you get down into the machinery and machine languages like DOS. Direct Operating System. Or the graphic interface exchange we call windows.
They have run into twin atoms. Some are quite far away. Yet they operate in parallel. If one atom moves, the atom far away moves in the same way. Yet there is no apparent connection between the two atoms. How they determined that is anyone's guess, but they did. Apparently distance has no relationship with the twin atoms working together in identical ways.
That means if we can guess how it is done, it would be possible to communicate over immense distances without going through space to do it.
Quantum physics apparently predicts these effects. So once again we are rewriting the laws as we understand them of the entire universe.
I am not really surprised. This was done in science fiction twenty years ago. They called it a Star Gate. Through these gates fictional characters traveled enormous distances all over the galaxy and all in little or no time. Science is just catching up with the imagination of our writers. Some day, they might make enough progress, they might even read the Bible!
