The Montauk Monster – Still No Explanation

After all this time, there is still no explanation for the Montauk Monster.

Have you heard of it?

The "Montauk Monster" was an unidentified dead creature that reportedly washed ashore on a beach near the Montauk business district in July 2008.

This creature was apparently first photographed by a 26 year old woman named Jenna Hewitt who lives in the Montauk area. Apparently she and three of her friends found the creature on July 12th, 2008.

So what is this thing?

Well, there have been several possible explanations put forward (that it is a dog, or a raccoon, or a sea turtle or a rodent) but they all seem very unsatisfactory.

So what is it?

Is it the result of some bizarre genetic experiments at the nearby Plum Island Animal Disease Center that we were not supposed to know about?

If you think that you know what this thing is, please leave a comment.

For now we are going to consider it to continue to be one of those great unsolved mysteries.
